ABOUT
Republic Records briefed us on creating an immersive digital experience for the launch of Lil Wayne’s latest album, Tha Carter VI.
My role was to lead the ideation and art direction, working closely with 3D designers and developers to shape a cohesive narrative-led experience that translated not only the album’s identity, but Lil Wayne’s wider legacy into an interactive digital world.
Through extensive research into his career and cultural impact, we developed a series of environments that reflected different stages of his progression, using lighting, atmosphere, spatial storytelling, and curated artefacts to create a world that felt both cinematic and authentic to longtime fans.
The experience was structured as a sequence of distinct rooms, each dedicated to a previous ‘Tha Carter’ release. Every space contained layered easter eggs, contextual storytelling, and audiovisual interactions designed to reward exploration and encourage social sharing, ultimately leading users toward a final environment teasing the new album launch.
Alongside the immersive art direction, I focused on shaping the UI and visual systems that connected the experience back to Lil Wayne’s broader brand ecosystem, while ensuring clarity, accessibility, and intuitive navigation across both desktop and mobile.
The result was a narrative-driven digital experience that balanced immersion with usability, transforming the album launch into a cohesive world fans could actively explore, uncover, and share.
